Orchha was established by the Bundela dynasty as the capital
of their Rajput kingdom that was remerging after being left
defeated and weakened by the Tughlugs of Delhi. Thus, their
new capital was named Orchha or the hidden place.
Built on an island in Betwa River, Orchha's palaces
and temples are encircled by towering walls that failed to
protect it from the Mughal invasions. The palaces and temples
in Orchha, therefore, are built in a fusion architectural
style. The domes are borrowed from the Mughals; the umbrella
shaped rooftops (chattris) are an integral part of Rajasthan
architecture.

you must visit on your tour to Orchha. The Jehangir Mahal
was constructed in 1606 by Bir Singh Deo to welcome the then
Mughal emperor Jehangir. You can easily visit the palace on

Praveen Mahal with gardens, Turkish baths and camel stables,
